The sun was setting as I came across this autumn scene along a mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. What most caught my eye was the subtle way the scrub oak in the foreground, the golden aspen in the middle, and the deeply shadowed mountains in the background blended into a continuous blanket of color and form.
