Flatirons Thanksgiving

I had decided to celebrate Thanksgiving morning by watching the sunrise at the Flatirons near the edge of Boulder. In the cold, pre-dawn gray I trudged up to a favorite spot in a meadow overlooking the distinctive rock formations. As I set up my camera and tripod, I noticed that the low clouds on the eastern horizon threatened to block the sunrise and make all my efforts worthless. At the last moment, however, the clouds cleared enough to allow the rising sun to light up the hills with a warm glow. The view before me more than made up for my frozen fingers and toes, and gave me a memorable start to the holiday.
