Hiking up mountain trails in the cold, predawn darkness I often wonder just why it is that I do this to myself? What is possibly worth the lack of sleep, the shivering cold and the stiff muscles?

But then the sun crests the eastern horizon and spread its growing warmth on the landscape around me, wiping away any doubts I had about the sanity of this adventure.
