The Loch

In the foreground, buried beneath a winter’s accumulation of snow and ice, lies The Loch, one of many alpine lakes found in Rocky Mountain National Park. These lakes were scoured from the solid rock by glaciers that flowed down these valleys until 12,000 years ago. In this view, looking to the west, we can see the steep cliffs formed by the headwall of the glacier that cut this valley.
