Winter is a harsh season in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. While most local creatures leave the higher altitudes or burrow deep and hibernate, a small number of humans are drawn to these icy realms. Braving flesh-numbing winds, these souls come to test their wills, stamina and sanity. Their efforts, however, are rewarded by amazing sights, such as this image of the crags of Flattop Mountain in early morning light.
